"Dhruva Natchathiram" is a Tamil action drama that revolves around an elite Indian covert team “The Basement” led by John. John and his team are forced to embark on a mission to locate and ensure the safe return of their leader, after he disappears. The film is rated NC16 with the advisory of “Violence and Coarse Language”. The film contains frequent depictions of violence which include gun, knife and body combat violence, most of which occur in the context of covert missions. There are several scenes that depict head shots and the resulting blood spurts. There are also some scenes where characters are stabbed and slashed. In one scene, a character is strangled to death with a shower hose. In addition, there is a scene portraying torture, where a suspect is interrogated using waterboarding. Such depictions are more appropriate under the NC16 Classification Guidelines which allow “depictions of violence and gore with moderate details” and “depictions of torture with some details” which are “infrequent and brief”. The film contains use of strong coarse language equivalent to the expletives “motherf**ker”, “c*nt” and “f**k” in Tamil and English.
