Extended Classification Information

‘Split Fiction’ is a co-op action-adventure game where players assume the role of Mio or Zoe, two aspiring writers participating in a trial simulation of their stories for a chance at publication. When a glitch merges their narratives, the duo find themselves trapped in the simulation where they are forced to navigate their contrasting fictional worlds to escape. The game is rated Advisory 16 (Suitable for 16 & Above). Played from a third-person perspective, players explore diverse worlds and locales where they must collaborate to solve complex puzzles or defeat enemies to progress to the next level. Depending on their current world, players can wield weapons such as swords, whips, or execute magical spells against enemies, including sci-fi soldiers, robots, fantasy creatures, and monsters. Occasionally, players can gain control of aircrafts and machine guns. General combat sequences are fast-paced, often featuring bright sparks and special effects when enemies are struck, accompanied by depleting health bars. The stronger depictions of violence and bloodshed are primarily presented in story cutscenes. These include enemy soldiers being struck in the head with swords or exploding in brief bursts of blood after being shot with a machine gun. Other scenes depict characters being impaled by large scythes, resulting in blood splatter. There are also depictions of fantasy creatures having body parts severed, with visible blood splatter. These include a scene of the protagonists witnessing a troll’s hand being severed by a guillotine, a multi-headed dragon having one of its heads severed, and another dragon having an eye gouged during a fight. These depictions are contained under the ADV16 Classification guidelines which permit “realistic but not excessively graphic violence with depiction of blood”. There is also some use of the swear words “bastard”, “shit”, “damn” and “goddamn”.
