“Call of Duty®: Black Ops 7” is a first-person shooter game that is set in 2035 when the world is engulfed in violence and chaos. The story follows David Mason who leads an elite team to the city of Avalon where they must stop a nefarious entity from dominating the planet, while confronting horrors from their pasts.
The game is rated M18 for violence and gore.
Played typically from a first-person perspective, or a top-down perspective on occasion, the player character will undertake solo missions or cooperate with teammates in navigating various environments to complete a series of objectives. Weapons such as knives, pistols, assault rifles, shotguns, grenades and missiles can be used to kill humanoid and creature adversaries. Progress is sustained by replenishing armaments, ammunition and armour while a grappling hook and a vehicle can be used for traversal. Cinematic scenes intersperse gameplay to progress the narrative.
Bloodstained environments strewn with bodies can be encountered during exploration.
Combat is frenetic as the player character confronts swarms of enemies, including ghastly-looking zombies, during intense melee attacks and bouts of gunfire. There are frequent depictions of graphic violence where foes are stabbed, shot and obliterated, resulting in decapitations, dismemberments and bodies exploding with blood and chunks of flesh splattering and staining surrounding surfaces. When the player character incurs damage, blood splotches appear on the screen. The M18 Classification Guidelines allow “depictions of realistic violence, such as killing, maiming or causing other serious injury to humanoid characters.”
The game contains some use of the expletives “motherf**ker” and “f**k”, as well as coarse language such as “shit”, “damn”, “hell” and “bitch”. Under the M18 Classification Guidelines, “frequent use of strong coarse language” is permitted.
The player can come across some portrayals of voluptuous female characters who are dressed in tight-fitting or revealing clothing in the menu pages.
