“Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2” is an action game revolving around the Nomad, an elder vampire who has awakened in modern Seattle after a century-long slumber. Guided by a strange voice, the Nomad explores Seattle to solve a hundred-year-old cold case that threatens both mortals and the undead.
The game is classified M18 for violence and coarse language.
Played from a first-person perspective, gameplay involves exploring the city to complete missions which involve gathering items, eliminating targets or solving supernatural cases. The Nomad also hunts and feeds on the city’s population to sustain vampiric abilities. While carrying out these activities, the Nomad must try to avoid drawing the attention of humans, as failure to do so results in reprisals from law enforcement and fellow vampires.
Combat is frenetic as the Nomad fights both humans and other undead, and blood splatters frequently when characters are damaged. When sneak attacks or finishing moves are executed, the camera zooms close to show detailed depictions of the action, which include biting the neck, decapitation, ripping out the heart or telekinetically exploding the enemy into splatters. Under the M18 Classification Guidelines, “depictions of realistic violence, such as killing, maiming or causing other serious injury to humanoid characters” is permitted.
The game contains use of strong coarse language such as the expletives “motherf**ker”, “cocks**ker”, “pu**y” and “f**k”. The M18 Classification Guidelines allow “frequent use of strong coarse language”.
