Set in the 10th century during the Chola rule of southern India, “Ponniyin Selvan: Part 2” is a sequel that continues from the events in the previous installment to tell the story of how the Cholas deal with the internal and external enemies and conspiracies to topple the ruler.
The film is rated NC16 with an advisory of “Violence”.
The film contains fight scenes that portray slashing, stabbing and hacking with swords, knives and axes, with depictions of blood spurts. There are also fights involving kicks and punches, including depictions of men getting slammed against hard surfaces. In one of the stronger scenes, a man’s arm and legs are shown being severed by a sword, with the stump visible briefly. There are also brief depictions of characters being impaled with swords. These depictions are more appropriate under the NC16 Classification Guidelines which allow “depictions of violence and gore with moderate details.”
