Classification Information

“Animal” is an action drama that revolves around a man’s quest for vengeance after he realises that his father’s life is in danger. The film is rated M18 with an advisory of “Violence and Coarse Language”. The film contains frequent depictions of violence between two feuding gangs where weapons such as gun, axe and knife are used. In one of the stronger scenes, a character’s neck is slashed with the impact and bloodletting visible. Other scenes of violence include one where a character sustains multiple gunshots repeatedly; depictions of headshots; characters being stabbed on their bodies by axe; and a few prolonged exchanges of gunfire with bloodletting visible. Such depictions are more appropriate under the M18 Classification Guidelines which allow “depictions of violence and gore with strong details”. The film also contains infrequent use of strong coarse language such as “motherf**ker”, and “f**k” in the dialogue and subtitles. There is a scene depicting a naked man in a non-sexual context, with details of his pubic region blurred out. There is also a scene where a man lies on top of a woman, supposedly after sex, but with no nudity visible.
